We got a water and sewer connection to the GID this spring and a water line to the studio this summer!!!
The Nevada Arts Council has graciously awarded an operating support grant to Soulfood Studios! Their support is critical to helping us "keep the lights on". This grant will help to sustain basic utilities for the organization as the water & sewer is installed (hopefully in 2022)...
Small crowds. Big Fun! Summer is here and community festivities are back in swing... This year our Snake Valley Festival art booth was held in a building with four walls & a roof! No need for time-consuming setup or breakdown of tents & tables. Many, many thanks to the Moore - Joy project (see below).
Trick or Treaters young and old made art with Glow-in-the-Dark paints, crayons, and makeup...oh so cool in the Black Light!

Our second art camp was a success, with daily attendance ranging from 12 to 24 local and visiting youth. We are grateful to the artists for their long treks to the desert, and to our devoted volunteers who helped to make each day so harmonious and fun!
S.T.E.A.M. = Science, Technology, Engineering, ART & MathSoulfood Studios teamed up with the Baker-Garrison P.A.T. to purchase and assemble "DROID Inventor Kits" from littleBits. Students worked in teams to build R2D2 droids to auction at the Harvest Festival. The auctioned droids helped to offset costs for the P.A.T. portion of funding. (Click on images to enlarge)
